Identification and damping of low-frequency oscillations based on WAMS data and the revisited residue method – part I

The results of low-frequency oscillations identification in the Republic Kazakhstan power grid by using a Wide Area Measurement System are presented and an algorithm for damping is proposed this paper. Analysis weakly damped inter-area revealed constant mode with frequency range 0.3‒0.4 Hz. It was determined that at these oscillations, amplitude active fluctuations along transmission line 150 MW duration 9 minutes. modal analysis calculation system model «DigSilent Power Factory» software shows dangerous oscillation modes having ratio 2.2 % eigenfrequency 0.328 These identified real data developed indicate incorrect tuning stabilizer parameters plants. necessary to retune whenever changing system’s mode’s configurations. An existing methods performed, revisited residue method as sufficiently effective.
